Class Structure
All Classes are 90 minutes long and contain 20-30 minute segments. All classes start with a warm-up session. This includes stretching, fitness and cardio. The remainder of classes is spent focusing on 2 of the following segments;
Hand and Kicking Techniques
Punching, Kicking, Blocks and Open-Hand techniques are covered as per the Kwan MAA syllabus. These are often trained using Padded Equipment or Punching Bags
Partner Drills
Set combinations using partners. Light contact is maintained so each student develops their technique in a fair and safe manner.
Patterns
Traditional in nature, the intention is to provide the students with a method of training whilst having no partner or equipment.
Sparring
Students apply techniques in a “live” environment. Free Flowing, semi-contact with padded safety equipment. The full Sparring Ruleset can be found here.
Take Downs & Groundwork
Throws, Trips and Break Fall complement the traditionally stand up striking style of Tang Soo Do. The basics of groundwork complete this segment.
